Collection: Cavansite

Cavansite is in the Silicate family of minerals, and was named by combining its elemental abbreviations. Ca for Calcium, Va for Vanadium, and Si for Silica. it gets its vibrant blue color from the presence of Vanadium. it was originally found in Malheur County, Oregon when they were doing excavation work to build a dam on the Owyhee River. Most Cavansite these days comes from the Deccan Traps in India.
